FAQ

Who can request this service and which materials are available?

This service is available to all students and employees of the Faculty, with the exception of users whose borrowed books are overdue. The scan-on-demand service will be available to these users once they return all their overdue books.

External users can use this service through the interlibrary loans service.

You can request scans of articles and chapters from the Library’s holdings.

Are you able to scan complete books and doctoral or other theses?

Unfortunately, we cannot fulfil such requests. You can only ask for specific chapters to be scanned.

How can I request a scan?

To request a scan, please send us an e-mail including all the information on the materials at snz@ffzg.hr.

What information on the materials do I have to include?

Please include all the information known to you. The more information we have, the easier it is for us to find the requested materials.

What we are looking for is information about the author and title of an article or a chapter, the title of the journal or book containing the article or chapter requested and its volume, year and page numbers.

The most important information is the title of the requested article.

How many articles/chapters may I request to be scanned?

Our goal is to scan 3 articles or 3 chapters a week per user.

We will process any further requests when possible.

How long will I have to wait for the materials requested?

Waiting times vary depending on the number of requests received.

If the materials are not available in the Library, we will contact you with the information on how to obtain them.

In what format will I receive the article/chapter? Will I need any special software to open the files?

You will receive your copies as a PDF file so the only thing you need is a PDF reader which is installed on most computers.

May I request scans in colour?

We usually do not scan in colour because scanning in black and white is easier and ensures that files are not oversized. If the materials include pictures in colour, you may ask us to scan in colour.

Is it still possible to see the printed version of the materials after requesting a scan?

Of course it is. All printed materials are still available in the Library. All accessible materials can be found on Library shelves on all floors and you can request Closed stack materials at any reference desk in the Library or by e-mailing zs@ffzg.hr

What if I am not sure whether the Library has the article/chapter I need in its holdings?

We recommend checking that first on our catalogue at

http://koha.ffzg.hr/. But even if you cannot find what you are looking for, do not hesitate to contact us.

If the materials are available, you will be sent an electronic copy. If not, we will contact you with the information on how to obtain the materials.

For what purpose can I use the received materials?

You can use these materials exclusively for the purposes of teaching and research. Any commercial use or further distribution is not permitted.
